TREND ALERT! Strobing and Baking

The new and latest trend in makeup is Strobing and Baking. Sure they sound like you’re heading to a disco and baking a cake. But these new tricks are the biggest thing since Kim Kardashian lead the way in Contouring. So what is this new beauty craze, and will it work for you?

Strobing: Dig out all your cream illuminators and highlighting products because strobing focuses exclusively on giving your skin the glow-factor. First you start with an illuminating primer, then follow it with your choice of foundation mixing in one part cream illuminator, two parts foundation. Avoid setting your foundation with a matte powder instead try a pearl like finishing powder or hydrating setting spray. Finish with an extreme highlighter, hitting the high points of your face. Check bones, bridge of the nose, cupids bow, brow bone and inner corners of the eye.

Recommended products to try are:

L’oreal Magic Lumi Primer

Mac Strobe Cream

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Setting Powder

Becca Opal Highlighter

Mac Fix Plus Spray

Baking: So your already familiar with Contouring and are wrapping your head around Strobing, but now ‘Baking’ your makeup is making itself a part of the mix. This term has actually been used in the drag community for years. It refers to letting translucent powder sit on the face for five to ten minutes, which allows the heat from your skin to set your foundation and concealer. Once times up you simply dust it off, leaving you with a creaseless, flawless finish. This technic is especially good for oily skin or if you have an all day event.
