Makeup For Mum’s

Let’s face it, a makeup routine isn’t always a mother’s top priority in the morning. But that bit of extra time spent giving your face a pick-me-up is so important. Since becoming a mum I can appreciate spending an hour doing my makeup is not really doable. But when I give just a little time for myself I feel a whole lot better, not to mention look a lot better.

So Iv come up with a few simple steps even the busiest mum can achieve.

Complexion: Get your glow back! Foundation should be quick and easy to apply and having two main functions, evening out your skin tone and giving you glowy radiant skin. Not this full coverage matte stuff that can leave you looking like a dull “cake face”. Opt for a tinted moisturizer that’s light weight, light reflecting, has SPF and illuminates. Try Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Gel or Garnier All-in-1 BB Cream. Both of these moisturize, prime, illuminate, and protect your skin from UV rays. Follow this up with a touch of concealer or if you’ve had a really rough night a colour corrector as well. Eyes: Amazing yet simple tip, start by using eye drops that moisten and reduce redness, followed by a nude eye line for the inner rim of they eyes. This is one of my favorite tricks for opening up the eyes and removing that red tired line. I use Nars Rue Bonaparte on all brides. Finally follow it up with a mascara that lengthens, curls and volumes your lashes. Or for instant drama try permanent false lash extentions.

Checks: Following on with the glow factor a cream blush should be a revelation for the busy mum! It takes less than a minute and some even double as a lip tint. Apply the cream with your finger tips in a circular motion to the apples of your checks, its that simple. Stila Convertible colour in Peony gives a delicate flush to make you look all sophisticated and dewy.

And  finally finish with a bang, my favorite. The lips: Your lip colour really speaks volumes, so choose the shade based on the events of the day. Whether it be house cleaning, lunch with friends or food shopping, the right lipstick colour becomes an instant feather that will liven up even the dullest skin. No need for dramatic eye-shadows when you can do lips while driving your car. Of course I don’t encourage this 🙂 Tinted lip balm or lip stain in soft pink and beige says: House cleaning, gym or family over for coffee. Satin finish lipstick in dusty rose, nude and soft coral say: Food shopping, doctors appointment and school run. Matte lipstick in bright pink or fiery red say: Date night, lunch with friends, or I’m a hot mum and I can wear what ever I want. Confidence is key.

So lets recap. In the time it takes to read this blog you would have applied tinted moisturizer, concealer, cream blush, eye drops, nude eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. And who knows if your little one is still asleep pop on some brows with a tinted brow mascara. Done and dusted in under 5 minutes.
